Dear Gordon,

We are in receipt of your e-mail of March 21, 2002, concerning the
MAPS DUL. You appear to be under the misimpression that the
material contained in the MAPS DUL is your property, when in fact it
belongs to MAPS.  Any reproduction, duplication, display,
dissemination, or use of this material without the express permission
of MAPS is prohibited.  Indeed, any such use would violate MAPS
intellectual property rights and would constitute a misappropriation.


Therefore, if you have made copies of material contained on the
MAPS DUL, other than material  that you created before becoming
employed by MAPS, you must return it to MAPS immediately.  You are
not authorized to copy, use, derive revenue from, sell subscriptions
to, or otherwise grant access to the MAPS DUL.  You have already
been compensated by MAPS for any work you performed while in its
employ.  As a result, you have no right to ask MAPS to pay you for
use of MAPS' own property.  Accordingly, we hereby demand that
you immediately discontinue all further use of the MAPS DUL, and
that you confirm in writing that you have not retained, displayed or
disseminated any copies of this material.

The law provides for imposition of severe penalties against those who
misappropriate or make unauthorized use of material such as that
contained in the MAPS DUL.  Among other things, the courts may
require unauthorized users to pay for all damages caused by such
unauthorized use,  all profits derived from unauthorized trademark
use, and all court costs and attorneys' fees incurred by the owner of
the material.

We trust you that understand the seriousness of this matter and,
therefore, we demand that you respond promptly confirming that you
will not engage in any further violations of MAPS' rights.
