On 07 DEC 1998 the MAPS Board proposed terms for moving the Orca DUL to MAPS. DUL was to be property of MAPS LLC. Should MAPS and I part ways, MAPS is required to sell DUL back to me for US$10.00. I agreed to those terms and that agreement was acknowledged on 10 DEC 1998. Find attached the e-mail in question. [CCRA and Vacation Pay] > That's Betty's area; have you talked to her about it? Betty should have e-mail from me on it from Wedensday. There wasn't any response since Wedensday however. If she's waiting for me to sign that exit agreement, she must not. *** PGP Signature Status: good *** Signer: Paul Vixie *** Signed: 07-Dec-1998 10:06:27 PM *** Verified: 15-Feb-2002 6:53:27 PM *** BEGIN PGP DECRYPTED/VERIFIED MESSAGE *** > Of all the things that would push me to complete the Orca -> MAPS DUL > transition, who'd have thought it would be Ron Guilmette? ron's not sane. he's also not a nice person. > Short version of the story: A month ago when I announced the DUL, I > got off on the wrong foot with Wolfgang and RFG regarding posting > pseudononymously. Legal, I don't have any problem > indemnifying you of any damages (or whatever the legal BS words are > that say, "If I screw up it's not Paul Vixie's fault!") legally, this will become the property of MAPS, LLC. you will be its maintainer, and we'd work out a contract that said that if you and MAPS ever part ways, we have to sell it to you for the prenegotiated value of US$10.00. (used to be US$1.00 was the contract minimum, now it's US$10.00.) in other words MAPS wants all the publicity -- and all the liability. we can just do it, for now, and then work out contract language later. technically, i will create an account for you on isrv1.pa.vix.com, which is the server for both http://maps.vix.com/ and for the BGP and DNS views of the RBL. you will make up a zone file for dul.maps.vix.com, and you will make up a web hierarchy for http://maps.vix.com/dul/. i will arrange for world wide name service for this new zone, using the existing servers (who are all very pro-MAPS and none of whom are pro-RFG.) i'll arrange for dul@maps.vix.com to be a mailing list with just you and i on it. (i just want to lurk, so i can understand the liability issues.) eventually we will figure out how to do a merged zone. rather than calling it rbl+dul.maps.vix.com, i'd like to come up with something more like erbl.maps.vix.com, which had the merged data but used the A RR as a bit field indicating flags like "dialup pool" or "open relay" or "spamhaus". this would come as part of moving the existing RBL into a database, which is a project i've wanted to do for some time now. > NOTE: Yes I use PGP and I have an RSA key. Now I've gotta find an SSH client. Luckily, Tucows has a few to choose from. OK, I think I have a grip on this, only I gotta get a copy of UNIX for Dummies[tm] now... I've worked too long in NT. :-) > > BTW: WTF is with UUNET? > > yup. sometimes i have to fire a shot across their bow. I can only imagine what will happen when the new MAPS DUL takes off.
