ORCA.BC.CA Dial-up User List (DUL) available for use 01 NOV 1998 The Orca DUL identifies sources of e-mail trespassing. Specifically, it lists dial-up or other end-customer-assigned IP addresses where spammers use, or have used, such mail programs as RFMS or MailLoop or other spamware designed to act like a mail server. Dedicated mail servers will not appear on the Orca DUL, no matter how much spam comes from one. Such servers will already appear on the MAPS RBL or Dorkslayers ORBS. The DUL already contains Afterburner's list and many others. As spammers trespass on my network I'll add their providers' endpoints to the list. You are welcome to send submissions to dul-list@orca.bc.ca, but I hand-verify all of these. I must ensure that no dedicated hosts end up on the list. If you use the DUL and your own dial-ups happen to be on the list, you will need to exclude them from checking. Examples on how to do this exist at . Please read the details at . You are encouraged to AXFR the zone to your own DNS servers to improve lookup speed; this information is public knowledge anyways, available from ARIN, RIPE, and APNIC. To make something clear: While it uses the same technology as the MAPS RBL, it's NOT the RBL! Only use this list to prevent trespass spam, not to block connectivity for any other purpose. Don't forget that your web site and FTP site visitors come from these IP addresses. Side note: Yes, I've asked the MAPS RBL team for help. They have some ideas in the works and when they're done I intend to co-operate. Until then, the DUL list is available now. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP for Personal Privacy 5.0 Charset: noconv iQA/AwUBNjtzDeaY34E/QlatEQJ5zwCgluOjnuBMlAtYlhIUpPktoDvgRHMAoIjL AKkJaTJXJb8SNN0Cr6Q6x5xy =tcCp -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
